SSG joined local residents and organisations at a community session in Middleton to talk about what young people and families in the area need.
Ideas were captured on flipcharts and sticky notes around the table. Some of the themes people raised were a lack of positive role models, the need for mentoring opportunities in and out of school, more opportunities for young people to socialise, more support for parents, more respect in the community, and tackling anti-social behaviour online.
These are exactly the gaps SSG exists to help close. Listening first shapes what we build next — from mentoring through Personal Futures to positive activities for young people.
Key takeaways
- Young people need positive role models
- Mentoring opportunities in and out of school
- More safe places and chances to socialise
- More support for parents and carers
