Safeguarding & governance

Safety comes first.

How we keep young people safe, how to raise a concern, and how SSG is run.

A child at risk

Contact the children's services team at your local council. In Greater Manchester, each borough council has a children's front door or early help team.

Need to talk?

Young people can talk to Childline free on 0800 1111. Adults worried about a child can call the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000.

How we keep young people safe

Safeguarding is part of how every SSG session is planned and run.

  • Checks appropriate to the role for anyone working with young people, before they start
  • Safeguarding arrangements agreed with each school or setting before delivery
  • Working within the host setting's safeguarding procedures
  • Young people's personal information is never published, and photos are only used with consent
  • A clear route for anyone to raise a concern
